Rolling Shutter Motors View products

What is a rolling shutter motor?

A rolling shutter motor is a side-mounted electromechanical drive that turns the shutter shaft through a gearbox and chain to raise and lower the curtain. It replaces manual pull-chains or spring balancing and is rated by curtain weight (kg), output torque (N·m) and supply phase.

How do I know which capacity I need?

Weigh or calculate the curtain weight (slat weight per square metre × curtain area, plus the bottom rail). Choose the next capacity above that figure with at least a 15–20% margin. Rollvento single-phase models cover 400–1000 kg and three-phase models cover 1500–2000 kg.

Single phase or three phase — which should I use?

Use single-phase 220 V motors where only a domestic supply is available and the curtain is under about 1000 kg. Use three-phase 380 V motors for heavy industrial curtains, wide bays, or high daily cycle counts where a three-phase supply exists.

What happens during a power failure?

Every Rollvento rolling shutter motor includes a manual hand-chain. With the power isolated, the chain drives the gearbox directly so the shutter can be opened or closed by hand. The electromagnetic brake prevents the curtain from free-falling.

Can I add remote control and safety sensors?

Yes. Motors are supplied with a receiver/control board and remotes. Infrared photocells, warning lamps, push-button stations, GSM and Wi-Fi modules are available as accessories and connect to the control board.

Sliding Gate Motors View products

What is a Rollvento sliding gate motor?

It is a floor-mounted rack-and-pinion operator that opens and closes sliding gates. Rollvento supplies 24 V DC models with battery backup for homes, high-speed brushless models for busy entrances and 220 V AC industrial models for gates up to 2000 kg.

Which Rollvento motor suits a heavy sliding gate?

For gates above roughly 1000 kg — typical of long steel industrial gates — choose the SL1500AC or SL2000AC 220 V AC models, which are rated to 1500 kg and 2000 kg respectively. For very long or high-cycle industrial gates, contact engineering for a sizing review.

DC or AC sliding gate motor — what is the difference?

24 V DC motors run on a low-voltage control board with battery backup, soft-start and precise obstacle detection, and suit residential and commercial gates. 220 V AC motors deliver higher continuous torque for heavier industrial gates but do not normally run on battery backup.

What is a gear rack and which one do I need?

The rack is the toothed bar fixed along the gate that the motor pinion drives. All Rollvento sliding motors use Module 4 racks; choose nylon-with-steel-core racks for residential gates and galvanised steel racks (8–22 mm) for heavier gates.

Can the gate be opened during a power cut?

Yes. DC models continue to operate on battery backup (where fitted). All models have a key-operated manual release that disengages the gearbox so the gate can be slid by hand.

Swing Gate Motors View products

What is the difference between sliding and swing gate automation?

A sliding gate moves sideways along a track or cantilever and needs space beside the opening; it is driven by one rack-and-pinion motor. A swing gate pivots on hinges and needs clear space to swing; each leaf has its own operator. Sliding gates suit sloped driveways and limited swing space; swing gates suit level ground where lateral space is limited.

How heavy a leaf can a linear actuator move?

Rollvento SW-series linear actuators are rated for leaves from 200 kg to 400 kg with leaf lengths up to about 2.0–3.0 m depending on model. Heavier leaves up to 600 kg use the PK series. Always check both the weight and the length limit.

Do I need an electric lock?

For leaves longer than about 2.5 m, or where the gate must resist forced entry, yes. Electromechanical actuators hold the leaf closed but a lock adds a positive mechanical bolt at the meeting stile.

Can swing gate motors open outward?

Yes. Both linear and articulated operators can be configured for inward or outward opening, but outward opening requires the correct bracket geometry and clearance to the road. Confirm the opening direction at the sizing stage.

Industrial Door Motors View products

How is an industrial door motor different from a rolling shutter motor?

Industrial door motors mount directly on the door’s torsion shaft and are rated by torque (N·m) for spring-balanced sectional and rolling doors. Rolling shutter motors are side-mounted chain drives rated by curtain weight (kg) for unbalanced steel shutters.

What torque do I need?

Torque depends on door weight, drum diameter and balance. A rule-of-thumb starting point is (unbalanced weight in kg × 9.81 × drum radius in m), then apply a safety margin. Rollvento engineering can calculate this from your door dimensions.

What are electronic limits?

Electronic limits use an encoder to track shaft position, replacing mechanical cam switches. They allow precise, repeatable stopping and easy re-programming, and are recommended for doors that cycle frequently.

Can these motors run on single-phase supply?

Yes, 220 V single-phase versions are available for the compact and mid-torque models; higher-torque drives use 380 V three-phase. The BLDC series runs from low-voltage DC via its control unit.

Boom Barriers View products

How do I choose a boom barrier?

Start with lane width (boom length), then traffic volume (opening speed and duty rating), then integration needs (loop detector, RFID, ANPR inputs). For toll plazas and busy commercial lanes choose the 10-million-cycle servo barrier; for parking, campuses and residential complexes the 5-million-cycle brushless DC barriers — including the no-spring CSEDZ40 — are usually appropriate.

What does MTBF mean on a barrier gate?

MTBF (mean time between failures) is expressed here as a cycle rating — the number of open/close operations the mechanism is designed for before major service. Higher figures indicate a mechanism intended for continuous high-traffic use.

What is the difference between a servo barrier and a DC brushless barrier?

Both open in about 0.9 s. Servo barriers use a closed-loop servo motor and are rated for 10 million cycles, suiting continuous toll and commercial traffic. DC brushless barriers are rated for 5 million cycles and are available with a no-spring mechanism (CSEDZ40) that eliminates spring fatigue and maintenance.

Does the barrier stop if it hits a vehicle?

Rollvento barriers include auto-rebound obstacle protection: if the boom meets resistance while closing it reverses. A vehicle loop detector or photocell should still be installed so the boom does not start closing while a vehicle is beneath it.

Automatic Door Operators View products

Do you sell automatic door operators as standard models?

Automatic door operators are project-engineered rather than stock catalogue items. Share your door dimensions, leaf weight and site requirements and Rollvento engineering will specify a suitable operator package.

Are automatic doors safe for pedestrians?

Operators are fitted with presence and motion sensors that hold the door open while anyone is in the threshold, and low-energy modes for accessibility. Correct sensor placement during commissioning is essential.

Accessories & Controls View products

Which accessories are essential for a gate motor installation?

A pair of safety photocells across the opening, a warning lamp, and a manual release key are the minimum for any vehicle gate. Add a push-button station for on-site control and remotes for users.

Can I add a GSM or Wi-Fi module to an existing motor?

Yes. GSM and Wi-Fi modules connect to the control board’s dry-contact command input, so they work with any motor that accepts a push-button input — including third-party operators.

What size solar panel do I need for a gate motor?

It depends on daily cycles, motor power and local sun hours. As a guide, a residential gate opening 10–20 times a day can run from a 20–40 W panel with a 12 V battery; commercial gates need larger panels and battery capacity. Ask engineering for a sizing based on your usage.
